Arrow Electronics has announced that it is teaming up with IBM and National Instruments in order to offer a predictive maintenance suite that enables data-driven operations in oil and gas plants, factories, mines and other rugged environments.

With the integration of National Instruments’ advanced industrial monitoring devices with IBM’s analytics/AI and asset management software, the new Wireless Industrial Asset Insights IoT solution helps business decision makers and operations managers to spot the faults well in advance and forecast the remaining service life.

Aiden Mitchell, vice president and general manager of IoT at Arrow said: “Operations teams can make better business decisions regarding operations availability and risk, to help them improve the company bottom line from both opex and capex perspectives.”

“We are helping organisations bring powerful analytics and AI to the asset management process,” added Adriana Robinson, vice president of IBM Watson IoT. “This will enable customers to make immediate insight-driven decisions to improve operations and proactively manage asset reliability.” The solution is now for sale through Arrow, Arrow business partners and IBM.

IBM has been busy with industrial collaborations in recent weeks. Trust Your Supplier, a blockchain network announced earlier this month by IBM and Chainyard is focusing on developing the entire supply chain management process, right from qualification to validation and onboarding.

The network builds a digital passport for supplier identity on the blockchain network that lets suppliers to share information with any of the permissioned buyer on the network. The network also helps in minimising the time as well as the cost linked to qualify, validate and manage new suppliers along with generating new business opportunities among suppliers and buyers.
