RFID to the rescue

Firefighters might be the next group of people potentially able to exploit RFID technology. Researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology are studying whether the chips could be affixed on building walls to guide first responders around smoky or otherwise unfamiliar buildings. The researchers are working on prototype handhelds and trying to figure out how many chips would be needed in a building. Read our story on the RFID effort here for a few more details.
